Guys,
Period of intense writing for me. Working on a lot of new material that will be exclusive to the book. Quite excited about it.
Not only do I have to write in English, I now also have to write in French. I’m very happy to announce that Stuff Parisians Like will soon be published in French. The publisher is 10/18 and the book should be available in November (and yes, it would make for a fantastic Xmas present 
).
So I presently find myself in the pretty random situation of having to translate my own articles into my own language. It’s a very different exercize from creating them from scratch in English but all in all quite fun.
Anyway… met up with the publisher yesterday (who kindly told me the deadline for the manuscript was no longer July but… June – as in… argh… a month from now) and we need a title for that book in French. Title needs to be in French, light-hearted and probably with the word Paris or Parisien in it.
So my question to you is: any ideas?

I still like #1 of course! But it wouldn’t work with any of the subtitles listed because they all repeat the “petit” or “Parisien”…. It would need a different subtitle, something idiomatic.
Otherwise, 4A or 4D.
I am a bit worried about a title with Putain in it!

I think a cheeky add-on with “Kiffe” or “Franchement” or “Putain” is obligatory to pull the punters.
Oooh, could someone remind me about the “75″, please? I don’t feel like I can vote properly until I know.
And because Olivier, in my head, Parisians are the binary opposite of Americans, so they don’t speak in American accents…even to poke fun!

I agree partly with Robert but not completly . Yes : anything with “putain ” will be catchy . However , everyone in France says it , it’s not only a parisian thing .. The only way of telling where the person expressing it comes from is to listen to the sound of it : if is sounds like ” putaingue ” then it’s south definitly , but if it’s ” P’taaaaaaain %!!@!!</\!! é" (the symbols reflecting face expressions then it's likely to be parisian !
Because Parisians are a bit snob, to be a bit catchy towards them , I would associate "putain " with a more "soft " sub title, or else they might ignore the book ( I think .. but then again .. alghough I am myself "french ", I can't say I really know them . That's why I'll have to buy the book !!)
2B. Or if not 2B, second choice is…4C. LOL, totally, like, love the video also. Yes, I know on the PS. I can’t edit posts here. Sorry. Yes, English got it’s millionth word sometime last year. Well, then French ought to be easy, with what, maybe 100,000 words or so? Hum, non. (Sound like a Parisian: “Ce verbe, est-il vraiment irregulier? Attends-là, tiens, j’ai mon Bescherelle”)…
1A is certainly a good safe bet, and from the sounds of it, to be Parisian is to play it safe.
If you were to use the “75″ title, it would be quite funny and a bit inside for the locals. However, there might be some drawbacks when it comes to doing interviews for the book. If the interviewer doesn’t know what 75 is all about, you might spend the beginning of some interviews explaining the title itself. (which does neatly tie in to the book of course, but it might become boring for you?) If it were more self-explanatory, the conversation could start anywhere, rather than at the title. I have no idea!! I’m sure you will make the right selection!

Vlr… 75 is the number for Paris on licence plates. It’s le numéro du département Paris. My concern with it is that people outside of France (Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec…) might miss that reference.

Aux etats unis, les Zip code en 75 correspondent aux villes du Texas, mais là, comme dirait boby lapointe…la question ne se pose pas..puisque tu as déjà ton titre.

I love 75! Brilliant. You just have to make sure it’s in a great font on the jacket. (Not sure you have that flexibility with the publisher though)

Not too late? “Être Parisien”. The infinitive conveys the feeling of superiority and intellectual approach to things that the Parisian favors (at least in your posts:). I can see a Parisian man in a metal chair at the Luco scratching his chin before starting his exposé this way: “Être Parisien, tu vois, c’est…”
I like 75 too, if you can have it as a picture of a license plate on the cover.

Fidèle lectrice de tes chroniques et irrémédiablement accro à cette petite expression qu’est Oh Putain! je le prendrais comme titre. Et en sous titre “le Parisien, mode d’emploi”. Un titre catchy, qui nous rappelle certains des textes, qui saute aux yeux, easy to remember, compréhensible pour tous (Parisiens ou pas) et qui nous dit un peu plus sur le contenu du livre. J’ai hate de lire ça, de voir cet humour traduit in French! Donc pour moi 2D. En deuxième place, 4B.

Parisiens. (c’est simple et sympa !) It appears to be completely without the article I’m noticing. I’d start the riots in the streets of Paris, but these are modern times. I like that French is starting to flex a little.
