Automomo, in my country and in the rest of the world, what you have is called Jealousy... admit it, you're just have that "shell" of superiority to make up for your lack of balls throughout the history of your country, but we all know that you're not superior, you're just like any other mortal out there.
Oliver, your blog is terrific, love Paris and you describe it as it is, with its flaws and its glory!

Blague.

Hi! :) I am a Canadian university student and am looking to do an exchange to Paris. My biggest concern: not having fun! But there is such an appeal to the city and I would love to experience it. What an opportunity! :) But, its very important to a Canadian to have fun and to live and let live! We drink, we get drunk (not on purpose, but it happens!), dance, act silly and laugh (at ourselves too) alot! Does that mean that if I went to Paris it would be difficult to find people who had similar views? Oh dear. What about Parisian men? Would they be offput or would they welcome being able to break out, have fun, laugh and perhaps even have random funness? Paris sounds, I don't know how to say it, but uptight. Also, are men in Paris (transplants or otherwise) very emotional and moody? Is that what makes them complicated? I'm sorry for all the questions, but any answers are much appreciated! Thank you! :)

[...] This article really lays it out well. And the thing about the bars is *absolutely* true. It’s bizarre that I never though of it this way, but last night I went to a dinner party with only young parisians, and lo and behold, they totally held up the descriptions in this article. 1) None of the girls knew each other, with one exception. They were all there with their boyfriends. 2) They were all wearing rather conservative clothing, despite the heat (and they all were wearing white lacy shirts! This has more to do with the fact that there is no individuality here than anything else). 3) There was much coldness and no flirting. [...]

LOL, Stefan!

LOVING the posts as well as the comments - only living in Paris would inform me more! What I find fascinating is that where I am from, Toronto, most women I know don't dress for themselves but to attract, naturally, men.

North American men, in general, are all about "tits and ass." Deep down (and sometimes not so deep), men, no matter where they are from, are all about tits and ass. Somehow, Parisian/French women have gotten away with dressing for themselves - as a woman living in T&A land, I am envious!

What if an etranger wanted to meet a French man for a real relationship???
