Olivier Magny
Excessive drinking with his rugby friends helped Olivier gain an extensive knowledge of wine at a young age!!
Now, more seriously, Olivier has a very unusual curriculum: after graduating from a French Grande Ecole, he decided to really dedicate himself to wine.
So he studied and graduated from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
His career as a sommelier led him to Le Cellier Saint-Paul in Paris and to four-star Le Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat in the South of France where he worked hand in hand with France's youngest Two-Star Michelin Chef, Edouard Loubet. Today, Olivier is also a visiting sommelier at Hotel de Crillon in Paris.

Olivier Magny is part of a new generation in the world of wine. Frequently presented as ‘the Jamie Oliver of wine”, his conviction is that the world of wine should be more laid back, not as stuffy and pretentious as it sometimes is.
Guided with that spirit and with a strong ambition to break the mold, Olivier started O Chateau in 2004.
“Wine Snobs high-jacked the world of wine… O Chateau is my response to them”… he likes to say (the French like to wage useless wars)!

In 2006, Olivier started writing for Time Out in Paris. He is in charge of the Wine Bar section (tough job).
On top of his activities with O Chateau, Olivier is also the wine editor for NetProf.
He is also currently working on his first book. |
Besides wine, Olivier loves eating well, playing sports and making fun of Italians.
He speaks fluent English, Spanish and Italian as well as basic Portuguese.
