What is your job? Curious question, since I imagine this questionnaire was sent to winemaking contacts. I am the director of the winery, as well as associate.

Where is your domaine? CANTENAC, AOC MARGAUX

Why did you choose  to be involved with wine? I fell into it when I was little.

Describe your wines in one word. Powerful and sophisticated at the same time, which is not very common…

Your best wine moment? Difficult question! Maybe Boyd-Cantenac 99

Your favorite dish? Difficult again! Hare à la Royale? Turbot with hollandaise sauce, but also foie gras cooked in salt, and many others…

Your favorite film? Romance

What does ‘terroir’ mean to you? The Graves Médocaines, but also la Côte, and Brunello, Stag’s Leap, le Pic St Loup, la Clape, and Frontignan, and the Douro.

A quotation about wine? “Be wary of a man who doesn’t drink wine.” Aristotle

What are you most proud of? Giscours 82, 89, Boyd-Cantenac 97, 90, 99, 2007…

Your dream? To see the government become honest!

Your idea of happiness? Serenity

An essential quality for you? Virtue

The most beautiful place on earth? Same difficulty as the questions about culinary preferences, or literary, film, and wine preferences

Your favorite swearword? Putaing!

Your motto? I remember

Any last words? I am always surprised that the subjects I know a little bit about are always misrepresented when I read or hear something on them. What about the subjects I know nothing about? And what’s more, why, in wine, is there such a widespread terror that prevents each person from listening to their own perceptions about wine? On the contrary, it is about helping others to grow in an autonomous manner, not to imprint on others our usually transitory certitudes.
