At O Chateau, we care about the environment (and we like corny lines too). In 2009, we started Carbon Compensating our activities. To do that, we chose to support Action Carbone and The Good Planet Foundation. O Chateau is not a big polluting company, but we want to make our own little contribution to our planet. We are kind of a small company and cannot really afford to fully carbon compensate, yet we’re hoping to get there one day as the company grows. Baby steps.

We also partake each year in the “Menu for Hope” initiative. For the last five years, food and wine bloggers and professionals alike from around the world have rallied their efforts to raise money for a worthy cause. To date we have raised over $250,000 to benefit the UN World Food Programme. This year the proceeds will again benefit the WFP, this time earmarked for Purchase for Progress, a program that helps smallholder and low-income farmers supply food to WFP’s global operations, improving farming practices, and putting more cash into their pockets.
